Pea Island — Dare County, NC
This was an emergency project awarded to us after Hurricane Irene formed a new inlet on Pea Island, NC cutting Hwy 12 in half. Everybody that lived South of Pea Island were cut off from the mainland and NCDOT had to establish an emergency ferry while we worked to restore the road. From contract award to traffic restored was 40 days. This included mobilizing the same day as contract award building a 662' bridge, all required road work and demobilizing. We received a CAGC pinnacle award, special recognition from the Governor and an article in ENR for this project.
