12/17/13 • Carolina Bridge was a subcontractor for $23,803,406 (out of $55,551,252 total design build total contract)
This design-build project replaced two parallel bridges over the Brunswick River with one structure measuring 800' long and 150' wide. The bridge was accessed with a combination of work trestle and barges. The project time was very tight and constrained by fish moratoriums. The new bridge was built in two phases, with the first phase being built between the existing bridges. There were only a few inches of clearance between the new bridge and the existing bridges. In order to build the first phase, we designed and built a custom overhead crane and girder launcher.
